Farm Cottage Cattery

236 Pampisford Rd, South Croydon CR2 6DB, UK – 020 8688 6568

Really great place, my cat came back looking very well and must have been very well looked after, excellent value for money.

We were leaving our cat there for two weeks so we gave the cattery a visit beforehand. It was very well laid out, and the chickens, we thought, would give the cats something to look at. We were concerned that the cages were a little small but we had little choice because it was the only cattery with availability at the time within 20 miles. Obviously, leaving a cat for two weeks in a strange place will cause them stress but we tried to settle her in. We were confident she would be well looked after and we left her carry box and some old clothes of ours so she would remember the scent of us. We left a carrier bag with two bowls of hers to make her feel at home and even left some treats that she likes (meat sticks) and her favourite food (she only eats the expensive stuff) because we felt it would benefit the cat AND, more importantly, help the cattery. It was heartbreaking leaving her there but I felt she would be well looked after. While in Salzburg the weather turned bad and we cut short our stay by a day. We drove about 800 miles to Dieppe and altered the sailing time at the ferry terminal. We left messages and phoned beforehand to say we would like to pick up the cat up on our way back and would be just over their closing time and wondered if someone could stay back a few minutes to meet us at the cattery. They obliged and we raced from Newhaven to Croydon. Unfortunately we met severe traffic in Croydon as it was a Friday night. When we arrived the man who met us was extremely rude and more concerned with getting the money we owed than in actually seeing that our cat and our belongings were returned. He even had the gall to start slamming doors and berating us for being 20 minutes longer than anticipated. Making it obvious his displeasure. When we got her home, the cat was very vocal and it took her two days to get settled in again. We also realised the two feeding bowls we left were missing, and they had given her none of the treats we left, nor had they read our instructions. We paid the outstanding fees on the Monday and are still awaiting the return of the bowls. This review would have given 5 stars had we not been met by the extremely rude and obnoxious attitude of the person who stayed behind. Business lesson number 1) Never bite the hand that feeds you.

Vets

Anne Nelson Vets

238 Pampisford Rd, South Croydon CR2 6DB, UK – 020 8686 6070

Unfortunately my cat had to be put to sleep but the amazing staff at Anne Nelson Vets were amazingly understanding and comforting at a difficult time

I've registered all my pets for the last 35yrs with them. Kind, caring, friendly, experts. Supportive of you as an owner as much as they are caring for your pets. I would recommend them every time.

Paxton Veterinary Clinics

I have used this vets for many , many years and have always found them to be very helpful and friendly. Our eighteen year old cat Poppy has been Diabetic for many years and requires frequent blood tests. Most of the staff know that they are going to get an ear bashing from her as she is quite vocal, but not vicious. The new longer opening times on allotted days are of a great help. I would recommend the practice to anyone.

Good vets with pleasant staff
